Clean up tips for spent bulb blooms

Smaller bulbs, such as crocus, muscari, scilla and snowdrops, multiply by seed as well as by bulb offsets. To encourage naturalizing, it's best to leave the flowers attached.

​To encourage reblooming, be sure to remove blooms right after they fade. Leave foliage in place.

Late spring is a good time to divide and transplant bulbs it you wish to relocate them.  Product like Bulb-tone can be used after moving.

Resist the urge to cut back foliage until it yellows. The health of this year's foliage will determine the amount of carbohydrates that will be stored in the bulb below ground this fall. These stored reserves, in turn, determine the strength of the blooms for next spring.
